Youth Touring Choir

The SCC Touring Choir -- under the direction of Mrs. Arlene Jacobs -- has continued to serve as performance ambassadors for the Summit Choral Society.  Watch a video during one of their rehearsals.

In addition to appearances on all concerts featuring the Summit Children's Choirs, they perform regularly with the Masterworks Chorale on Summit Choral Society subscription concerts and internationally at destinations 2005_China_Tour_1_Lo-Res.jpgsuch as China, Italy, Germany, Austria, Malta and the Czech Republic. They are remarkable vocalists with the ability to engage and captivate audiences of all ages and nationalities - singing in multiple languages and styles.

In past years they have been involved in performances of such large scale works as J. S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes, Faure's Requiem, Mathias' Jonah, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Monteverdi's 1610 Vespers, Rutter's Requiem, and Verdi's Four Sacred Pieces. They have also been prominently featured in the Choral Society's two major commissioned works - the world premieres of Jerre Tanner's ‘Aumakua - Living Ancestors' (2001) and David Howard Pettit's 'An Ohio Symphony' (2003).

They have been invited to sing for state, regional and national choral conventions over the past decade; have given full concerts on college campuses and in churches of many different denominations in the region; have provided music for Martin Luther King Day Ceremonies; have provided music for the Akron Jewish Community's observance of Yom HDSC_0001_Lo-Res.jpgashoah; and have also appeared with the Masterworks Chorale on the City of Akron's 9/11 Commemoration Service in 2003.

They have appeared as part of international music festivals in England, Hawaii, Italy and China. The summer of 2006 found them on a tour of New England which included concerts in New Hampshire, Connecticut, Vermont, Massachusetts, and on the campus of Harvard University.  Since then, they have traveled to Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic in 2007, and throughout Arizona in 2008.  During summer 2008, they will travel to Malta, Italy - a wonderous island off the coast of Sicily - and perform in centuries old churches.  Watch a video, click
